Having interns, especially in the summer, is one of my great joys of being a woman in business. I love to try and do anything I can to help them find their path. Maddie Higley, just headed back to school at Boston University, gave me such fantastic support this summer, and I wanted to return the favor by helping her hit some of her personal goals. Maddie’s objectives were clear – she wanted to get into a new skin routine, an improved hairstyle, and get some looks that she could wear to class and beyond (other than just jeans and t-shrits).
To address Maddie’s skin, I took her to my everything when it comes to my face, Karen at her spa Sia’s Beauty in Soho. This was Maddie’s first facial (ever!!!) and she could not believe how clean her face felt afterward, remarking that the wind was blowing into her pores.
After a quick blowout and a commitment to dry her hair once a week, Maddie’s hair was easily taken care of and we were ready for the lewks.

And her after’s!
Maddie Goes to Class
Maddie told me she wanted to dress in a way that represented her personality more, and cited Aidy Bryant as her style inspiration. This fit and flare banana dress by Eloquii paired with my favorite Reebok sneakers (they feel like little mattresses on your feet) is an easy substitute for jeans and tee for class because it’s comfortable, but still casual.
Welcome Back Shorts
Maddie had ditched shorts as a concept, but she ended up changing her mind with these ruffle shorts by Eloquii that can be dressed up or dressed down. Here we pair them with a floral top, also by Eloquii.
This Bish Gotta Interview Soon!
Maddie still has a year of college fun ahead of her, but her career is on the horizon, so she wanted a look that was a little more sophisticated, but still showed her personality. Wrap dress by Eloquii, paired with studded ankle boots by ASOS is a win.
From Maddie’s mouth – “Even though I had a hard time picturing myself in some of the clothes picked out for me, I ended up loving the clothes for my makeover. They made me feel like an enhanced ~adult~ version of myself. I don’t know if my jeans and t-shirts will be retired just yet, but my banana dress and pink ruffled shorts will definitely be heavily featured in the rotation.”
To add the finishing touches, we enhanced her natural features with beauty products from Elizabeth Arden, including their Fourever Glow Highlighter Powder, Stroke of Perfection Concealer, Beautiful Color Liquid Lip Gloss Finish, and more. We also added low-maintenance jewelry that she could wear everyday and not have to worry about taking off, like this arrow necklace from Stella & Dot.
Thank you so much for all of your help, Maddie, and have the BEST year at college 🙂
