How To Make Matchy-Matchy Work

IMG_3401.JPG

I love prints and tend to be a more-is-more kind of lady (no surprise there!), so the matchy-matchy look is my kind of trend.

But covering your whole body in pattern isn’t always the easiest thing to pull off, especially if your body doesn’t resemble a coat hanger. So here are a few tips I’ve picked up along the way keep matchy-matchy from looking wacky-wacky.

1. Stick with a tried and true silhouette. Now is not the time to get creative! Whatever your go-to silhouette may be (I’m a pencil skirt devotee), remember it’s a go-to for a reason. Save those fashion risks for another time.

2. Anchor with a solid. This isn’t a hard and fast rule or anything, but mixing in a solid can be nice to ground all the pattern. Whether it’s a white button down or a statement clutch, something about a pop of solid just works.

3. The more subdued the pattern, the easier to pull off. Obvious, I know! But this means you can dial the effect up and down by playing with the scale and contrast of the pattern. This set by eloquii is the perfect subdued pattern for an easy entrée into the trend!
