Summer wedding outfits are a no-brainer: if it’s floaty, floral, or off-the-shoulder, chances are you’re set. But a fall or winter wedding can really throw a girl for a fashion loop! The vibe is moodier and more sophisticated (not to mention the serious drop in temps), making it a lot harder to know what to wear. A lot of ladies end up going with a black dress because it’s easy, appropriate, and checks all the boxes. And there’s nothing wrong with that! But if you want to stand out in a sea of floor-length black dresses, you need to know how to turn up the volume tastefully.
Moody Floral
Just because it’s the middle of December doesn’t mean you need to ditch the florals! Trading ditzy pastel prints for larger-scale jewel-tone florals is such a chic move. When doing an all-over, standout print, keep the silhouette as classic as possible — like a simple v-neck — and let the statement pattern do all the work.
Make It A Jumpsuit
Jumpsuits are basically a chic way to wear pants to a wedding and especially this time of year, the extra coverage is much appreciated! If head-to-toe black is where your comfort zone lies, consider reaching for a jumpsuit instead of a dress. Your style will still stand out, especially if you look for stylish details like beading, lace or sequins, and you’ll still feel like yourself.
A Little Metallic Goes A Long Way
I don’t know about you, but whenever I wear a full-on gold or silver dress, I feel like I’m going to a New Year’s Eve party. Metallics are definitely a shoo-in for a fall or winter wedding, but I think they’re more elegant (and less, “Happy New Year!”) in smaller doses. A navy dress dotted with a metallic star print adds shimmer to your look and feels special without being over-the-top.
