Ditching That All-Black Winter Wardrobe

Katie Sturino / The 12ish Style

Everyone knows you can wear white after Labor Day – that’s old news! But black is still the default neutral of choice once the temps start dropping. So many women wear it head-to-toe starting this time of year because it’s easy, flattering and seasonally appropriate.

And that’s fine! But for some of us, too much black can start to feel boring and uninspired. Marci, who I met filming this latest episode of Closet Confidential, was suffering from this exact type of wardrobe black-out and was ready for a refresh.

I loved working with Marci because she was looking for CASUAL OUTFITS to wear out for a cup of coffee. Listen, I love coffee and I love a cute off-duty look more than anyone (it’s what I’m wearing most days!) so I was born for this challenge 🙂

My main goal was to get Marci out of all-black and into my favorite winter neutrals: white and camel. She wears a lot of tailored looks IRL so I wanted to keep some polish and structure for her in the form of button downs, booties and structured outerwear.

Can I just say… Marci looks amazing!! If you’re looking for a wardrobe pick me up, do like Marci and try swapping out some of your winter black. Do a white jean (or white overalls! How cute does Marci look!?) instead of black skinnies, or a camel coat instead of a black coat, even camel booties are a nice switch up! I promise you will be amazed how much fresher and cooler you feel.
