Makeover reveal week continues here on the blog with my finished dining room! If you saw my bedroom and entryway, you already know I worked with Homepolish over the past few months to completely decorate my apartment, top to bottom. When it came to the dining room, we knew it also needed to double as my office, so we spent a lot of time making sure we got it right!

Key for me was a GIANT table. I really like to spread out when I work, and on days when my coworker is here we both need our own space. Plus I love to host, so yes I spend a lot of time in this room! We searched high and low for the perfect table and finally found it with this Joss & Main stunner. It really delivers on the Nancy Meyers vibe that I wanted in my apartment.

Chairs were a huge debate and the one thing I went rogue on, insisting on giant chairs at either end of the table that I could comfortably sit in all day long. I’m not a small person and I just wasn’t gonna do a small chair, much to everyone’s dismay. I personally love the final look (chairs were pre-owned but very similar to these from Joss & Main), and will also admit there is nothing more fun than having dinner with one other person 7 feet away at the other end of the table in a matching giant chair. It will make you feel rich! Like you just won the lottery!

For the side chairs we wanted something upholstered but not totally solid to help balance out the big chairs and keep things airy. These Joss & Main chairs fit the bill perfectly.

But if you think my huge royal throne chairs are the most controversial thing in the room, you would be mistaken. That award goes to the giant Jonathan Adler brass banana centerpiece. As my own mother pointed out, yes it’s a little phallic. But can everyone just get their brain out of the gutter for a second and appreciate how fabulous it is!!!?

The other fabulous thing in the room is the horse artwork from Minted. When I did my art shopping I had just returned from a weekend at Black Beauty Ranch and was so touched by the experience. This horse makes me feel super zen and I love that she is watching over me. Just looking at the horse looking at me takes me back to that amazing weekend at the ranch. Also the scale is great for the room and I love that it came framed and ready to hang. I was intimidated at first to buy artwork but in the end it couldn’t have been easier or more fun.

And finally, because I am an adult now, I have actual coasters. They are Jonathan Adler agates and they are so chic! Don’t you dare set that La Croix down on my beautiful table without one!

One room to go… the living room! And I’m telling you, it’s chock full of goodies. Come back tomorrow for all the details, including another zen wall animal, Carrie Bradshaw-approved storage and why my view is better than yours 🙂
