If you haven’t already heard… I’m teaming up with Eloquii this summer to take on your real life closet conundrums, one woman at a time, in a new series called Closet Confidential. I’m so excited to share our latest episode today!
In case you missed it, in the last episode we helped our new friend Tori get back in touch with her fun loving roots and bring some much needed color and life back into her mostly black urban wardrobe. She looked and felt amazing, and it was so much fun to work with her.
In today’s episode (WATCH FULL EPISODE HERE), the fun continues as we set out to prove that getting dressed for work doesn’t have to be a snooze! Get ready to meet Becca, who recently turned 30, got her own place and is basically adultifying her life, top to bottom. But one area that was lagging was her work wardrobe. She was relying on the same formula just about every day to get dressed — leggings, a long top and a blazer — and was over it!
I was really excited to work with Becca on new work outfits because I think a lot of women assume that the only way to look polished and professional at work is to wear boring clothes. But that’s not the case! Becca happens to be a lover of bright colors, so the job here was a fun one. We just needed to show her new silhouettes and ways to combine the colors she already loves.
The only rule: NO MORE LEGGINGS. That meant bringing in everything from rompers (yes, you can wear shorts to work!) to wide leg crops to pencil skirts. In addition to new silhouettes, simple tweaks, like adding a waist-defining power belt or just tucking in a top, ended up being total game changers. Becca found three looks she loves that are chic and fun yet totally profesh. I’m obsessed with each of them!
Whereas before Becca only had one formula to turn to when getting dressed, now she has FOUR and they’re all no-brainers. The jumpsuit + blazer silhouette that was so new to her can easily be re-interpreted a zillion different ways with a zillion different jumpsuits. Same for the romper and pencil skirt looks. Getting dressed in the morning should be fast and fun and with a little know how + a hard-working closet it really can be!
And good news! We’re still casting for future episodes so if you’re having a closet crisis of your own and live in the NYC-ish area, send me a note at the12ishstyle@eloquii.com and let me know how I can help! Hope to hear from you 🙂
